Connecting Dots

Like there are endless ways to connect two dots, there are many different ways we connect as humans. Sometimes more linear, sometimes harmonious, sometimes truly electrifying. Apparently it depends on our inner frequency and how it resonates with other people’s frequencies, or better said, how we vibe.

I was interested to see how this would play out visually, so I created a series of 15 paintings, each using a different way to connect the dots, each representing a different type of connection.

I chose to work with 5 shades of the color Naples yellow, also known as antimony yellow. Naples yellow is one of the oldest synthetic pigments and was used in paintings during the period 1700-1850. It has a really nice earthy tone.

I picked Naples yellow, not only because the colors remind me of one of my favorite cities in the world, but also because I love the way it interacts with charcoal: messy but beautiful, like life itself.
