The Paris Metro

The Metro of Paris is all about white tiles, shiny black floors, turquoise trains, colourful chairs and ditto people.

It is as gritty as it is beautiful.

Needless to say, as a serious subway surfer, I have visited all stations and have created an alternative map of the Paris Metro system.

The Paris metro opened in 1900 and is the fifth oldest metro system in the world, after London, Budapest, Glasgow and Chicago. The system has 302 stations, 16 lines and a total length of 214km.

It is one of the densest systems in the world and one of the busiest, with 4.2 million passengers per day, powering 20% of the overall traffic in Paris.
