26 postures and two breathing exercises

I spend a lot of time in this room.

Why?

Because I have found that it is my best way to take care of my body, mind and soul.

I started practicing Bikram Yoga when I was living in New York City in 2000. My then girlfriend, subsequently wife and now co-parent took me to a class and I was hooked immediately.

I've been practicing ever since.

For 22 years now.

Some people ask me, isn't it boring to do the same 26 postures every time? I've never felt it was boring, as every class is different. I feel the repetition is soothing and aids with the open-eye meditation, which it really is.

Probably I was at my best level around 10 years ago, when I participated in the UK Hatha Yoga championships. I ended as penultimate but it was an incredible experience, to perform yoga poses in front of a 500-people audience, in complete silence. I'd love to get back to that level, and now that I'm injury free, I'm going to give it a try, defying my undeniably aging body.
