My paint supply store had run out of my favourite white gesso.

Rather than stocking up from Amazon, I decided to try something new and row with the oars that were available to me: black gesso.

That is how this series came about.

I created a series of 9 paintings combing black gesso with different color shades, ranging from carbon black to platinum white.
