About the work
“And sniffed me out like I was Tanqueray” is part of my Color Blocks series: 16 paintings of 225 color blocks each, made to understand better what color does to me.
This work is painted in eight shades of green. It brings me calm, almost like the sea, but without the coldness. I feel I could drown in it. At the same time, it makes me optimistic, like anything is possible.
The grid is fixed, but every block behaves slightly differently. Some are dense, some are light, some feel fresh, others almost artificial or dark. That tension between the strict system and the movement inside the surface is what makes the painting alive to me.

I made 16 paintings of 225 color blocks each, to better understand what color does to me.
I had always worked with a deliberately minimal palette. That restraint was important to me. But I wanted to explore color more directly — to understand its power, not by theory, but by working through it block by block.
The structure stays constant, the colors change, and every painting affects me differently.
